Clemson (10-0) remained unbeaten by using a late run to beat a stingy Wofford (4-6) squad 90-66. Clemson shot 55 percent for the game, had four players in double figures, recorded 22 assists, and only committed 9 turnovers. Wofford, however, stayed within striking distance throughout much of the game by making 11 of 26 three point attempts.
Wofford has played several opponents tough so far this season, recording near misses versus NC State and the Tigers while beating Cincinnati. The Terriers have also given Clemson some tough games in years past, so perhaps we have a little more evidence that this Clemson team is more complete heading into the conference season.
Head coach Oliver Purnell, aware of the past difficulties with Wofford, said, “I think the fact we respected them and took them seriously had a lot to do with our getting better as the game went on.”
Clemson's next game is not until December 19. Hopefully the Tigers can maintain their intensity until they take the hardcourt versus Georgia Southern.
