We at TRR love this time of year, but it can take a toll. So much basketball to watch over these last few weeks of the season can leave one with a headache. Friday night I went to a high school game as preparation for a long weekend of hoops action, little did I understand how it would take a toll on me.

The Hoosiers took the Badgers to the woodshed and now has a legitimate shot to take second in conference. We're confident the Hooser faithful at Nick's were more than pleased.
Continue Reading >We found out a lot about the Big Ten this week, more than you might think. Wisconsin's win over Ohio State may have said more about OSU than the Badgers. Kelvin Sampson has Indiana playind defense that hasn't been seen in Bloomington since you-know-who roamed the sidelines. Here's our thoughts on the top three teams in the Big Ten.

Greg Oden had his first taste of quality opponents and finally went up against another big who could match him physically and athletically.

This game was not artistic, but it did feature two of the top defenses in college basketball this season. Indiana is a work in progress, but their transformation into a good defensive unit has been enjoyable to watch so far this season.

Why write about the losing squad in this column TRR? For several reasons, young grasshoppa. For one, Indiana has a first year coach in Kelvin Sampson who is trying to be the guy who can at least try on Bobby Knight’s shoes. With Mike Davis now departed to UAB, TRR wanted to gauge the progress of the squad. Second, TRR has some connections to the Hoosier Nation. Third, there are not exactly a lot of good ACC games on this afternoon.

When the Northern branch of TRR heard that a Minnesota coach was fired I thought, well Glenn Mason, the football coach, had it coming. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was Dan Monson.
November 11, 2006. Kansas came out firing from the opening tip, defeating a respectable Northern Arizona squad 91-57 in front of a packed Allen Fieldhouse.
Continue Reading >November 10, 2006. Ohio State let VMI hang around for the first half, but turned up the intensity in the second half and pulled away from a scrappy VMI squad 107-69 for a victory in the Black Coaches Association Classic.
Continue Reading >Midnight Madness, or Hoosier Hysteria in Bloomington, Indiana, always gets the upcoming hoops season off to a raucous start. Usually, between 10-13,000 Hoosier faithful come out for a quick glimpse at the latest IU team. In addition to showing his newly reformed squad to the fans, new coach Kelvin Sampson had a very special gift to offer.
