NC State (11-6, 1-3) notched their first conference win today 88-74 with a win over Wake Forest (9-7, 1-3). The Wolfpack jumped on the Demon Deacons with an 18 point halftime lead and held on down the stretch.
NC State was led by Gavin Grant (24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) and Courtney Fells (20 points, 4-9 3-FG), while minimizing the damage done by Wake's main offensive threat Kyle Visser. Visser, plagued by foul trouble all afternoon, only scored 11 points on 5-7 shooting and 2 rebounds in 25 minutes.
The Wolfpack still miss Engin Atsur. Despite their offensive efforts, Grant and Courtney had another woeful day in the turnover department with 7 and 6, respectively. The lack of efficiency in the turnover department, however, was offset by 13 Wolfpack steals.
